THE REAL COST OF AMERICAN MADE
Real numbers. Real wages. Real American manufacturing.
Real numbers. Real wages. Real American manufacturing.
Most companies take the easy route — they outsource production to countries where labor costs a fraction of what Americans earn. We don’t. Every piece of T & K Hunting Gear is cut, sewn, and built right here in the USA by American workers earning $20–$30 an hour, not $3–$5 like overseas factories.
We could triple our profits overnight by sending our work abroad. But that would mean sacrificing our standards, our people, and our promise to you. That’s not who we are.
Let’s break down what actually goes into the cost of true American-made gear. It’s not greed, it’s craftsmanship, fair wages, and premium materials sourced 100% from U.S. suppliers.
Even though our gear costs more upfront, our gross margins are often smaller than overseas-made brands. We invest more into materials, labor, and local sourcing, and make less per product than companies importing cheap gear.
Our American-made Leg Gaiters retail for $200 - $204, but they cost us roughly $90–$100 to make in South Dakota and Georgia, using 100% U.S.-sourced materials and 100% American labor.
That includes cutting, sewing, quality control, packaging, and the premium components that make them last season after season. For comparison, most imported gaiters selling for half the price cost only $20–$25 to produce overseas.
So while imported gaiters sell for less, they often make more profit. We charge what we have to, not what we wish we could.
Our gaiters are built for the hunter who values performance, durability, and American craftsmanship over cutting corners for price. That’s what Made in the USA really means.
We’ll never apologize for making gear the right way.
We’ll never chase higher margins by sending jobs overseas.
And we’ll never compromise on quality, no matter what it costs us.
Because when your name’s on the tag, and your reputation’s on the line, you build it right. Every time.
